The Bill on Amendments to the Family Code of Ukraine (re Increased Rate of Alimony for Children), (Reg. No. 2008) "is aimed at further enhancement of a mechanism for securing constitutional rights of children as Ukrainian citizens for adequate living standard, and improvement of children´s material provision in case the way of child´s upkeep is defined by court or parents failed to reach consent concerning way of child´s upkeep".    

 

The Bill establishes the alimony rate for children´s upkeep at the rate of a living wage for a child of relevant age, and increases the rate of temporary State aid for children in the cases defined by the Law.

 

The Bill (Reg. No. 2046) introduces new regulations to the Family Code of Ukraine appertaining to adoption. Inter alia, it determines that "the persons who had previous convictions for crimes against life and health of the citizens, sexual liberty and sexual privacy, against morality and in the field of drugs circulation" can not become adopters. 

 

The author of the Bill, M.Syrota, the People´s Deputy of Ukraine, believes that adoption of the Bill will secure more efficient protection of rights and interests of adopted persons.
